Более тысячи произведений искусства из 17 музеев мира теперь доступны онлайн в рамках Арт-проекта!

Сегодня компания Google представляет Арт-проект – результат уникального сотрудничества Google и знаменитых музеев мира. Теперь вы сможете познакомиться и рассмотреть в мельчайших деталях более тысячи произведений искусства на сайте googleartproject.com.

В проекте участвуют 17 художественных музеев, включая Государственный Эрмитаж в Санкт-Петербурге и Государственную Третьяковскую галерею в Москве. На сайте googleartproject.com представлена коллекция гигапиксельных изображений известнейших произведений искусства и собраны тысячи фотографий других великолепных работ. При использовании панорамной технологии Street View были созданы виртуальные экскурсии по залам художественных галерей.

Теперь любой человек, в какой бы стране он ни находился, может узнать больше о произведениях искусства разных стран мира, об их истории и создателях.

Музеи помогали нам выбирать коллекции для проекта, подбирать оптимальный угол съемки произведений, составляли сопроводительный текст, а также предоставляли аудио- и видеоматериалы. В виртуальную коллекцию вошли такие шедевры, как "Возвращение блудного сына" Рембрандта из Государственного Эрмитажа, "Явление Христа народу" Александра Иванова из Государственной Третьяковской галереи, "Рождение Венеры" Боттичелли, композиция современного британского художника Криса Офили "Нет женщины, нет слез" (No Woman No Cry), пост-импрессионистские картины Сезанна, византийские иконы, потолочные росписи Версаля и интерьеры древних египетских храмов, произведения Уистлера и полотна Рембрандта.

Вы можете перемещаться по галереям, выбирать интересующие вас произведения искусства, читать информацию о них или в мельчайших деталях рассматривать изображения тех работ, которые отсняты в сверхвысоком разрешении (каждое такое изображение состоит из 14 млрд. пикселей). На информационной вкладке можно прочитать сопроводительный текст о произведении, найти другие работы того же художника и посмотреть видеоролики на YouTube, рассказывающие о картине, а также прослушать аудиофайлы.

Для создания панорамы интерьеров музеев специалисты Google специально доработали аппаратуру, использовавшуюся при создании сервиса "Просмотр улиц". Результаты съемок были сведены воедино, и теперь все пользователи смогут легко "прогуляться" по 385 залам разных галерей мира.

Кроме того, пользователи Арт-проекта смогут создавать собственные коллекции и отправлять ссылки на них своим друзьям, которые, в свою очередь, смогут комментировать понравившиеся работы.

Обновления в Google Docs

В целях упрощения управления файлами различных типов в Google Docs были изменены функционал и интерфейс.
Основные изменения следующие:
• На Главной странице представлено содержание, добраться до которого требуется наиболее часто и просто (при необходимости можно скрыть элементы в этом режиме просмотра, но они по-прежнему будут доступны в режиме просмотра "Все файлы").
• Папки в левой навигационной панели заменены на Коллекции.
• Добавлен ряд фильтров, позволяющий сузить область поиска по типу, видимости и другим критериям (к сожалению, дополнительные операторы поиска не визуализированы).
• Добавлена сортировка по приоритету, присутствующая во всех представлениях (подобно приоритетным Входящим в Gmail), а также другие порядки сортировки (по заголовку, наличию пометок, по дате последнего изменения или открытия).
• Добавлена панель информации на правой стороне списка документов, на которой доступен предварительный просмотр миниатюр (видео-файлы могут проигрываться непосредственно из панели) и сведения об элементе.
• Удалена возможность отметки нескольких элементов списка через чек-боксы: чтобы выполнить операцию с несколькими элементами, необходимо удерживать нажатой клавишу Ctrl (PC) или Command (Mac) и выбирать необходимые строки.
• Папка с закладками Google Chrome теперь стала недоступна для просмотра.
Как говорится в описании к новым функциям, подробнее о новом списке Документов Google можно узнать в Руководстве по началу работы, но на представленной по ссылке странице области изображения для получения информации о различных разделах пока не активны.

Прежний интерфейс в случае необходимости пока еще остается доступным при добавлении параметра ui=1 в адресную строку (при этом на отображение папки с закладками Google Chrome это не влияет - она остается недоступной и в этом режиме).

A refresh to the Documents List

Over the past year, many of you have been taking advantage of the ability to upload any file to Google Docs. With more files and of a variety of file types in one place, it becomes more difficult to organize and find what you need quickly. As a result, we are happy to announce that, over the next couple of days, we'll be rolling out a refresh to the documents list, aimed to make it more useful to find, explore and share all your files stored 100% on the web.


First, we added a number of filters in this refresh, making it easier to narrow your search by type, visibility state, and other criteria. We also added priority sorting as a option in all views. Priority sorting is like Gmail's Priority Inbox, in that we look at a number of signals to put your most relevant files at the top of the list. And you can still use other sort orders like Last Modified Date or by Name.


This update will also improve the experience of exploring and browsing your files. We added a preview panel on the right side of the document list, so that you can see a preview thumbnail, sharing settings and more at a glance. And if the file is a video, you can start playing it directly from the preview panel or from the recently announced video player.


To make it easier to view photos, you can now click on the magnifying glass on a photo to open a full screen slide-show viewer.


There is also a new view called Home. The contents of the Home view are controlled by you so that the content you access the most often is easier to get to. You can remove files from the Home view by right clicking the file and selecting Don't show in home to hide them. And when you need them, these files can always be found later by selecting All items or using search.

You may also notice Collections have replaced Folders in the left navigation bar. Collections are designed to combine the best features of labels and folders. A file can live in multiple collections, just like with Gmail labels. Collections can also be stored hierarchically, just like folders on your desktop. And of course, collections can be shared, just like you can share docs.

Along with the improved find-ability and browsing experience, we streamlined the interface. For example, instead of using checkboxes to select multiple files, you can just use your Shift or Control (Cmd on Macs) keys.

That's not all. We've also been working hard on increasing the speed of the documents list by overhauling our back-ends to make things snappier.

This refresh is rolling out now and should be available to everyone over the next couple days. For Google Apps for Business customers that don't have "Enable pre-release features" box checked, this refresh will be coming in a few weeks.

Обновление Google Chrome Dev Channel до версии 10.0

Функция альтернативного перевода в Google Translate

Вслед за виртуальной клавиатурой, в Google Translate запущена еще одна новая полезная функция, которая позволяет использовать альтернативные переводы для каждой фразы в тексте перевода. При нажатии на переведенную фразу активизируется всплывающее меню с возможными альтернативными вариантами для этой фразы (варианты слов и словосочетаний или возможность ввести свой вариант самостоятельно), а также подсвеченные цветом соответствующие фразы в исходном тексте. Использование функции альтернативного перевода позволяет не только скорректировать запутанный и неверный перевод для потребностей самих пользователей, но и помогает Google в выборе лучших вариантов перевода в случаях, когда Google Translate допускает ошибки, совершенствуя тем самым систему статистического машинного перевода, базирующуюся на методах самообучения на основе статистического анализа.

When one translation just isn’t enough

When you come to Google Translate, we always do our best to give you the most accurate translation our system can produce. However, sometimes translation can be pretty tough. Language is full of ambiguities and our system has to do its best to make the right choices. So why choose?

We've launched a new feature to provide you with alternate translations for each phrase in the translated text. Just click the translated phrase and you'll see a pop-up menu of possible alternates for that phrase, as well as the original phrase highlighted in your original text. Not only can these alternative translations give you a better understanding of a confusing translation, but they also allow you to help Google choose the best alternative when we make a mistake.

This new feature is powered by harnessing the vast knowledge within our statistical machine translation system. Typically, when we produce a translation, our system searches through millions of possible translations, selecting the best -- that is, the most statistically likely -- translation. With this feature, we expose more of those possible alternatives. For more information about how our system works, check out http://translate.google.com/about/.

By using this feature, you can help improve Google Translate. Selecting phrase-level alternatives gives us feedback that fits well within the our system's statistical models. We hope to incorporate this structured feedback into our system, improving translation quality over time.

Делегирование почты: предоставление доступа к аккаунту Gmail

Возможность делегирования электронной почты, ранее предоставлявшаяся для аккаунтов Google Apps, теперь стала доступна любому пользователю Gmail. Предоставление доступа к учетной записи осуществляется через настройки. После прохождения процедуры по делегированию аккаунтов Gmail, в правом верхнем углу страницы Gmail рядом с адресом электронной почты будет доступна маленькая, направленная вниз, стрелка (как при включенном множественном входе), которую можно будет использовать для переключения между аккаунтами (до десяти делегированных аккаунтов) через выпадающее меню. В отличие от функции множественного входа, доступной для нескольких служб, такое делегирование аккаунтов возможно только для Gmail.

I use two Gmail accounts: one is my personal account and the other I share with my family (we use it to subscribe to groups like my children's classroom mailing list). Checking these two different accounts used to mean I had to sign out and back in to Gmail all the time. Not anymore. Instead, I can grant my personal account access to my shared family account and view, organize and send mail on behalf of our shared account.

We've offered email delegation for Google Apps accounts for a while — it's super useful for people who want their assistants to have access to read or respond to mail on their behalf. Now this functionality is available for anyone using Gmail. To grant access to another account, click the Settings link in the top right corner of Gmail. On the "Accounts" tab, you'll see a new section where you can "Grant access to your account." For example, below we've given hikingfan@gmail.com access to the hikingfanfamily@gmail.com account.


The account you add will get a verification email with links to accept or deny access. Once the account accepts, a small down arrow will appear beside the email address at the top right corner of Gmail which can be used to toggle between accounts — in this case hikingfan@gmail.com and hikingfanfamily@gmail.com.


Each account will open in a different browser tab or window so you can view both accounts simultaneously, all while signed into your primary account. When you send a message from hikingfanfamily@gmail.com while signed in as hikingfan@gmail.com, it will appear as being sent by hikingfan@gmail.com on behalf of hikingfanfamily@gmail.com.


Signing out of any one of the accounts will sign you out of all the accounts you're currently viewing, and, of course, you can revoke access at any time.

Виртуальная клавиатура в Google Translate

В Переводчик Google, как ранее в основной поиск, добавлена экранная клавиатура, позволяющая вводить текст на нужном языке вне зависимости от того, для какого языка предназначена физическая клавиатура. Функция базируется на использовании API виртуальной клавиатуры.

Вызвать виртуальную клавиатуру в Google Translate можно нажав на значок клавиатурывнизу поля ввода.

Для некоторых языков, таких как вьетнамский или армянский, имеющих более одной популярной раскладки для местной физической клавиатуры, также поддерживается множественная раскладка и в виртуальной клавиатуре, переключаемая нажатием на стрелку вверху нее.

On-screen Keyboards on Google Translate

Today Google Translate supports translation between almost sixty languages, but typing many of those on a standard QWERTY keyboard ranges from difficult to impossible. That's why today we're happy to announce the addition of on-screen keyboards to Google Translate. Whether you're a native Georgian (ქართული ენა) speaker travelling abroad, or a student learning German with no way to type those tricky umlauts (ü), we hope this new feature will come to your rescue.

You'll notice a small keyboard icon in the bottom corner of the text input box. Click this to open a virtual keyboard for the selected input language. You can either click the letters on the on-screen keyboard, or type using your real keyboard while the on-screen keyboard is visible.

Some languages such as Vietnamese and Armenian have more than one popular layout for local keyboards. Our on-screen keyboards support multiple layouts too, and you can switch between these layouts by clicking on the arrows at the top of the on-screen keyboard

To close the on-screen keyboard, simple click the small keyboard icon again.


With this launch, we've added on-screen keyboards for these languages: Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Basque, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Welsh, and Yiddish.

Some of you may be familiar with our "Phonetic typing" feature - for a few languages such as Arabic, you can type a word as it would sound in English (e.g. "marhaban"), and see the letters transformed to Arabic (e.g. مرحبا) before being translated. The new on-screen keyboards do not interfere with phonetic typing for languages that support both – when the keyboard is open, phonetic typing will be disabled.

We hope that this latest addition to Google Translate will make writing and communicating in foreign languages even easier. Please let us know if you have any feedback in our discussion group.
